Procedures:
A portrait of superior quality expresses the personality of the subject and fits the home it will be displayed in. This is a collaborative project between the person commissioning the portrait and the artist. Stages of this process include: the first meeting the subject(s), one to two photography sessions, and the completion of the painting in the the artist’s studio. For pet portraits, the first meeting may be optionally combined with the photography session. Nicole paints in a technique of the old masters by first creating an underpainting that is comparable to a brown and white photograph, then adding color in a series of glazes. Through this often tedious process, Nicole’s works are luminous and dimensional. Depending on the complexity of the work, a painting can take anywhere from three months to a year to complete. Payments are made at set 1/3 installments that coincide with the first agreement of the composition, the completion of the underpainting, and the finished work.
Nicole’s goal is to create a work of art that is both an aesthetically beautiful addition to your home and a meaningful reflection of the subject(s) and your family.
